To our amazement, we found 100- and 50-shekel notes were the norm, so tomorrow we get change, we hope. Oh yes, the mint lemonade is made in a blender with lots of mint, lemonade, and sugar. Sorry! No quantities of ingredients available.<\/p>\n<p>Once back on the bus, we headed to Qumran National Park, home to the Dead Sea Scrolls. After the Scrolls were discovered in 1947, the ruins were also rediscovered and preserved. The bus was greeted by several Bedouin peddlars. We said no until one of our crew decided a donkey ride would be better than walking up a steep rocky path. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-906\" src=\"http:\/\/www.livingstonespilgrimage.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_0035-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0035\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.livingstonespilgrimage.org\/lsp-archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_0035-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.livingstonespilgrimage.org\/lsp-archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_0035-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.livingstonespilgrimage.org\/lsp-archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_0035-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>At the lookout point we could see St. George&#8217;s Monastery which is on &#8220;the road&#8221; to Jericho where the story of the Good Samaritan took place. \u00a0The road is a narrow dirt path. On the lookout side of the ravine\u00a0are the remains of a water canal Herod built to get water to his summer palace.
